Following our initial community engagement meeting on 6th June, Lower 48 Energy, in collaboration with our Scottish planning partners Blackhall and Powis, hosted a follow-up drop-in meeting on 7th October at the Ballantrae Community Centre in Girvan, Scotland. This event was part of our ongoing commitment to engage with the local community and focused on our proposal for a 200MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), along with the associated development and infrastructure.

We provided updated exhibition boards and incorporated more detailed drawings of the plans and site layout, as previously requested by attendees. Additionally, we shared further updates on our fire response plan to address safety concerns.

We were pleased with the attendance of around 20 local community members, including representatives from the Ballantrae Community Council, with whom we had detailed discussions. Key concerns raised were similar to those from the previous meeting, including transport, road access, traffic flow, and noise.

In response, we had already taken proactive steps by conducting thorough road surveys, developing a robust traffic management plan, and collaborating closely with our expert consultants to ensure minimal disruption to the community.

We also welcomed further suggestions for community engagement, including the possibility of assisting with the maintenance of the village hall and the restoration of the local pub.
