On Wednesday, 4th December, despite a rather damp afternoon, we hosted a community engagement event at Uffington Village Hall regarding our proposed 100 MW, 2-hour BESS scheme next to the Shrewsbury substation. Attendees were generally supportive of the project and were keen to see the details of the plans and the site layout.
While some concerns were raised about traffic during the construction phase, we explained that peak traffic would occur during battery deliveries, expected to be a maximum of five deliveries per day over a 10-day period. A comprehensive Traffic Management Plan will detail measures to minimise disruption.
Immediate neighbours expressed interest in understanding the construction timeline and the projected connection date, which is currently anticipated for 2029. All feedback will be reviewed as we continue to develop the planning application for the project.
