On Tuesday, June 25th, Lower 48 Energy, in collaboration with our Scottish planning partners Blackhall and Powis, hosted a seven-hour open house Public Community Meeting at Cuminestown Village Hall, Aberdeenshire, from 1 pm to 8 pm. The meeting focused on our upcoming proposal to build and operate a 375 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Upper Greenfield.
We are committed to engaging with local communities, providing an opportunity for the public to ask questions, raise concerns, and learn more about our proposal through open dialogue and detailed exhibition boards. We were thrilled with the turnout, with nearly 60 attendees, including two local councillors, farmers, landowners, and representatives from Rothienorman and Monquhitter Community Council.
Key concerns raised included transport and road access, as well as critical fire safety. Others in the community were keen to learn where any community fund would be held and spent. All the points raised on the day and on formal feedback forms will be considered and reflected in the design and layout of the site put forward for planning.
A further public meeting will be held later in the year to show the feedback received and our responses to it.
